A Movement to Spread Cloud Computing Knowledge Around the World
Operation Badar Home Page

Operation Badar is a not-for-profit educational movement to spread knowledge about cloud computing. We strongly believe that most of the applications within the next few years will be built for "the cloud" -- the Internet. Microsoft, Google, IBM, Adobe, Amazon, and Salesforce.com, etc. are currently developing cloud computing platforms. We plan to provide the learning material and resources for students and professionals globally, to help them learn how to build Rich Internet Applications (RIAs) using these cloud based platforms.

The organizers of Operation Badar have no financial interest in the program; the fees charged to students are being used to cover the cost of utilities, facilities, teaching, etc.

Operation Badar a Global Movement to Narrow the Economic and Digital Divide
We think that the Cloud Computing revolution provides an excellent opportunity to address the economic and unemployment problem, especially in the third-world. Instead of giving people fish, let us teach them to how to catch fish. Let us provide them with skills which are highly sought after by employers all over the world and will also give them a chance to become entrepreneurs of the future. Our objective is to produce 10,000 cloud computing software professionals by 2012.

Operation Badar Strategies

To put it mildly, our objectives seem to be unrealistic and impossible to achieve given the resource requirements. Indeed they are not realistically achievable if we apply the conventional solutions and wisdom. OB is employing new tactics and strategies.

To reduce costs OB has not made any capital investments, but instead utilize already existing facilities. Existing computing and classroom facilities of Universities and Institutions are being used on weekends and during the nights.

In the future we plan to employ cloud based eLearning technologies in all aspects of education to communicate with large number of students at extremely low cost. The cloud based eLearning platform is under development.
